Beer should become more expensive in August, say businesspeople in the sector

Even beer, the most popular alcoholic drink among Brazilians, did not escape this wave of growth. In August, the forecast was that it would become more expensive. Bar and restaurant owners have announced that they must pass on increased costs to customers, largely because high food prices have made menus more expensive.

The increase in food prices also affected business, according to businesspeople in the sector. So, in the face of so many increases, it is impossible not to pass on the cost to the end consumer.

In the beer sector's forecast, price changes should occur at the beginning of this year. Adjustments are usually made between September and October.

But now, in 2022, beer is expected to become more expensive in August. Traders in the sector say they have stopped growth in an attempt to attract customers by resuming services after the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, the facts are clear. With so many increases, it must be difficult to keep up without letting customers feel some of the increase in even the most basic food items.

According to the Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants (Abrasel), beer accounts for 20 to 60 percent of the revenue of bars and restaurants. Obviously, this variation takes into account the contours of each location.

Despite the predictions of workers in the sector, the National Beer Industry Union (Sindicerv) has not yet commented on a possible increase in prices. Furthermore, he also said that he will not take a position on commercial relations between manufacturers and customers.
