Palmeiras terminates contract with defender Renan

Palmeiras terminated the contract of defender Renan, who was arrested on July 22 for running over and killing a 38-year-old motorcyclist in an accident in Paulista, Bragança.

The 20-year-old player was loaned to Bragantino until the end of the season, when the team ended its relationship with Renan.

The day after the arrest, the São Paulo Court of Justice (TJSP) granted provisional release to the defender on the condition that the player pay bail equal to 200 minimum wages, around 242 thousand reais.

The accident happened on the Alkindar Monteiro Junqueira highway, in the Quinta da Baronesa community, in Bragança Paulista (SP). Renan was arrested for manslaughter and spent the night in a public jail in the neighboring city of Piracaia (SP). In the decision on the custody hearing, it was informed that the defender did not have a driver's license and was driving “under the influence of alcohol”.
