Four Brazilians advance to the semi-finals of the Kayak slalom World Cup

At the Kayak Slalom World Championship in Augsburg (Germany), four athletes from Brazil competed in the K1 (Single Kayak) semi-finals. This Thursday (28), Ana Sátila and Omira Estácia advanced in the women's championship, while Mathieu Desnos (French, naturalized Brazilian) and Pepê Gonçalves continued in the men's competition.

The semi-finals start on Saturday (30) at 4:03 am (Brasília time). The final is scheduled to take place in three hours. Previously, this Friday (29), Kauã da Silva competed in the C1 qualifier (individual canoe), starting at 5:13 am. These events are broadcast live on the International Canoe Federation (ICF) channel.

Ana is in 26th (107) and Omira in 13th (59) in this Thursday's women's match. With only the top 166 going straight to the semi-finals, the Brazilian had to step down again and have to reach the top 89. Both improved their respective times, with Omira finishing seventh (20) followed by Ana (10).

In the men's category, Mathieu made his 20th fall (91s13), going straight to the semifinals. Pepe, who has just recovered from Covid-19, was only in 51st (98,67), but turned things around in a new attempt to come in seventh (90,77). The other Brazilian representative of the race, Guilherme Rodrigues, who finished 68th (105s74) in the first descent and 53rd (146s69) in the second descent, was caught in a door that he needed to avoid, after a 50-second penalty.
