The new inflation projection for 2023 was revised upwards and was one of the highlights of this Tuesday (26). See below for details.

The Auxílio Brasil calendar is 600 reais in advance.

The Federal Government confirmed the expectation of 600 reais for the first phase of Auxílio Brasil. Deposits will begin on August 9th, rather than the 18th of the following month as originally planned.

The decision is formally taken by the Ministry of Citizenship in the Official Gazette of the Union and will not change the calendar from September to December. As stated in the proposal to increase the value of Social Security, the measure is valid until the end of the year.

Transfers are made based on the end of the beneficiary's Social Identification Number (NIS), in the order of 1 to 0. Check out the updated Auxílio Brasil calendar for August:

  • NIS final 1 – August 9
  • NIS final 2 – August 10
  • NIS final 3 – August 11
  • NIS final 4 – August 12
  • NIS final 5 – August 15
  • NIS final 6 – August 16
  • NIS final 7 – August 17
  • NIS final 8 – August 18
  • NIS final 9 – August 19
  • NIS final 0 – August 22

The Chief Minister of Civil Affairs, Ciro Nogueira, has already announced the date change in an interview with SBT News. “We have made August 9th the ideal date and we are doing everything we can around the world so that we can meet this date. But if not, it’s a day or two at most,” he said at the time.

In addition to Auxílio Brasil, a national boosted gas voucher will be launched next month. The benefit went from 50% of the national average price of a 13kg cylinder to 100% of that value.

Assistance for truck drivers has a date set

The government promised R$1.000 in aid to truck drivers to be paid from August 9th. According to the calendar published by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the first two installments will be deposited in a single installment, that is, workers will receive 2.000 reais at a time.

The program, called Emergency Benefit for Automated Cargo Transporters (BEm Caminhoneiro), will cost 5,4 billion reais and will serve around 900 automated transporters. Dataprev is responsible for selecting those approved, and the company uses data received from the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT).

To obtain the packages, truck drivers must be registered in the National Road Cargo Transport Registry (RNTRC) by May 31, 2022. They must also have a valid National Driving License (CNH) and CPF.

Professionals who participate in the MEI Truck Driver category, created at the end of last year, are also entitled to monthly vouchers. It is enough to complete the registration before the above deadline.

The voucher will have six installments in total, two of them in August and the remaining monthly until December. See the payment schedule below:

Aid to taxi drivers starts on August 16

The first payment date for the Taxi Driver Emergency Benefit (BEm-Taxista) has been confirmed. From August 16th, the aid provided for by the Kamikaze Constitutional Amendment Proposal (PEC) will enter professionals' accounts.

It is the responsibility of the municipalities and governments of the Federal District to send information to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. See the calendar:

  • Registrations made until July 31st: payment on August 16th;
  • Registrations made between August 5th and 15th: deposit on August 30th;
  • Registered by September 11th: transfers between September and December.

The government will pay up to six installments of R$1.000 each, as long as the amount is in line with the R$2 billion budget foreseen for the measure. The amount will be formally determined after surveying the total number of beneficiaries, but the first two installments will be made at the same time.

The aid aims to help taxi drivers “register with the city hall or federal district with a license or concession (alvarás)”. Drivers who work for ride-sharing apps like Uber and 99 are not included.

Markets raise inflation expectations for 2023

Markets raised their inflation forecasts for 2023 for the 16th consecutive week. The focus report released yesterday, the 25th, showed that the new expected increase was 5,30%, slightly higher than last week's forecast of 5,20%.

The confirmation of these numbers exceeded the central bank's target for the third consecutive year. BC projects inflation of 3,25% in 2023, plus or minus 1,5%

Forecasts for 2022 are improving. Expectations have risen from 8,27% to 7,3% in the last four weeks, but remain above the BC's estimated target of 3,5% and the 5% threshold.

GDP (gross domestic product) is expected to grow 1,93% in 2022, subject to the PEC Kamikaze measures. Estimates for next year fell slightly, from 0,50% to 0,49%.
